Winter safety - don't crowd the plow!

Snow plow photo

When the snow flies our crews get out on the roads to plow. If you’re on the road, please give our plows plenty of room to work. The road behind an active plow truck is safer to drive on, so driving an appropriate distance behind a plow may be your best option, especially during heavy snows. If you must pass, please only pass when it is safe to do so. If conditions get severe, consider staying off the roads entirely, and always do so if a travel ban or state of emergency is declared. Please note parking on Town roads outside of the Village is always prohibited from November 15 through April 1.

An additional note from our Highway Department:
During heavy snowfall, place trash and recycling toters away from the road's edge and return them to your home as soon as possible. This ensures that Town trucks have adequate room to plow and prevents trash receptacles from being knocked over by the heavy, wet snow coming off of the plows.
