We’re hosting events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. throughout the month of January, including the Town of Pittsford’s MLK Living the Dream series. This series, which focuses on the lasting impact of Dr. King, features two documentary screenings, a panel discussion with local students, and a performance by an MLK Youth Choir. Curious about the inspiration behind the series? Check out the latest episode of Your Friendly Neighborhood Librarians, where we hear from Kevin Beckford about why he started and continues to champion this series.
PCL is hosting several other events throughout January that honor Dr. King and his legacy. The library screened the documentary Alice’s Ordinary People on January 6, and are hosting a discussion on January 13. For Pittsford residents who were not able to come to the screening but who still want to come to the discussion, the documentary is available anytime on Kanopy. Kids and families are invited to a story and craft time on January 17.
