Department Services

The Town of Pittsford’s Recreation Department offers over 100 “user fee” supported programs for all ages. A wide variety of sports, exercise, education, and enrichment classes are available during spring, summer, autumn and winter sessions. In addition, the Recreation Department organizes the annual Pittsford Triathlon and several activities for parent and child participation.

The Recreation Department steers the town’s Events Committee that is responsible for planning community events including the summer concert series, Memorial Day parade, festivals and seasonal celebrations. This department coordinates the use of the town’s playing fields by community groups including Pittsford Schools and Pittsford youth sports teams.

The Recreation Department oversees a childcare program for infants and toddlers, ages 1 - 5. The Childcare Center is located in the Spiegel Community Center, 35 Lincoln Avenue. Reservations are required; 3-hour maximum stay allowable. For hours of operation and further details, please call the Childcare Center at (585) 248-6295.

An after school program is operated by the Recreation Department. “Alternatives for Kids” provides supervision for children ages 8 to 13. Transportation can be arranged through the Pittsford School District. This program follows the school calendar and is available 3 – 6PM, Monday through Friday. Participants can choose from a variety of activities; time is set aside to do homework and an afternoon snack is provided.
