Local governments exist for the purpose of providing services and public facilities to the people who live within their jurisdiction. The Town of Pittsford is governed by a Town Board, comprised of four Council members and a Supervisor, all of whom are elected at large by the qualified voters of the town. The Town Board meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm in the Town hall, lower level.

Sandra F. Zutes, Town SupervisorSandy began her involvement with the Pittsford community as a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board member in 1976 and over the years has served the Town in a volunteer capacity on the Zoning and Planning boards as well. She was elected to the Town Council in 1994 and served as the Town's Deputy Supervisor for 19 years, from 1996 - 2012.

Jared C. Lusk, Deputy SupervisorJared was appointed to Town Council on May 19, 2009 and appointed as Deputy Supervisor on January 3, 2013. He formerly served the Town of Pittsford as Town Attorney for 4½ years. Jared is a partner at law firm Nixon Peabody in the firm's real estate department. He is also a member of the Pittsford Fire Department and served as Chief from 2007 to 2008. |

Karen W. Green, Town CouncilKaren has been on the Town Council since March of 1999. She is a life-long resident of Pittsford and a graduate of Pittsford Mendon High School. Karen has worked with the Group Home Advisory Committee to make this a more effective and efficient group. |

Matthew J. O'Connor, Town CouncilMatt joined the Town Council in January of 2012. A member of the Rotary Club of Pittsford, Matt also serves as the Steering Committee Chair of an Eastside Habitat for Humanity Coalition. He is a mechanical engineer and director at ITT Exelis Geospatial Systems. |

William A. Smith, Jr., Town CouncilBill was appointed to Town Council on December 19, 2012. He previously served Pittsford as a council member in 1996 before being elected to the Monroe County Legislature where he served from 1996 until 2007. He also served as a Pittsford Town Justice from March 2011 until his appointment to Town Council. |

Volunteer Boards
Board of Assessment Review - A five-member board, appointed to five-year terms, meets once a year on Grievance Day, usually the 4th Tuesday in May. Members are responsible for hearing and deciding grievances filed by citizens who are dissatisfied with the assessment placed on their property by the Town Assessor.
Design Review and Historic Preservation Board - A seven member board appointed to staggered terms in 2012 and seven-year terms thereafter (no term limits), which meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00PM in the lower level of Town Hall. This board is a legally constituted board responsible for review and approval of architectural plans for all new structures, as well as renovations or additions to existing structures; review and approval of applications for Certificates of Appropriateness involving changes to Designated Landmarks; and review and approval of applications involving lot configuration, building orientation and location issues of residential structures in the RN Zoning District. This board is also responsible for the inventory and Landmark Designation of historically significant structures as well as the promotion of Historic Preservation through educational programs.
Environmental Board - A seven-member board, appointed annually, which meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7PM in the Town Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room. This board serves in an advisory capacity, reporting to the Town Board and the Planning Board on matters pertaining to environmental issues within the Town. Members also participate as stewards for the Town in an annual Conservation Easement Monitoring Program of PDR (Purchase of Development Rights) and Open Space properties within the Town.
Library Board of Trustees - An eight-member board, appointed to five-year terms, with a limitation of two terms, which meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7PM at the Library, in the Fletcher Steele Conference Room. This board is chartered under the Board of Regents and has responsibility for the governance of the Pittsford Community Library.
Parks and Recreation Board - A seven-member board, appointed annually, which meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30PM in the Spiegel Community Center. This board is an advisory board to the Town Board and Planning Board on matters related to parks and recreation within the Town.
Planning Board - A seven-member board, appointed to seven-year terms (no term limit), which meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:30PM in the lower level of Town Hall. This board is a legally constituted board responsible for the review and approval or denial of development applications in the Town, which primarily relate to new homes (Subdivision Approval) or are related to construction or expansion of business (Site Plan Approval).
Zoning Board of Appeals - A seven-member board, appointed to seven-year terms (no term limit), which meets the 3rd Monday of each month at 7PM in the lower level of Town Hall. This is a legally constituted board responsible for making decisions on any requests to vary from the zoning ordinances. It also may hear and decide upon any appeals from any order, decision, or determination of any official charged with the enforcement of the zoning laws.
The Town of Pittsford continuously accepts applications from residents who are interested in serving on our volunteer boards. When a vacancy occurs, the applications on file are reviewed and qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview.
