Towers of Light in Pittsford Tonight in Tribute to 9/11 Anniversary

Flag of Heroes Displayed at Library, Community Center & Veterans Monument

WHO:              In remembrance of and tribute to those lives lost and those lives forever changed on this day in 2001.

WHAT:            Towers of Light presented by the Town of Pittsford. Twin beams of light will shine on Saturday night in recognition and remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our country.                

WHEN:            Saturday, September 11, 2021, 8:00 – 11:00pm

WHERE:         The 9/11 Tribute Towers of Light will be located in the Powers Farm field behind Schoen Place in Pittsford; it can be viewed from Schoen Place.

FLAGS:           Other symbols of remembrance currently displayed in the Town include:

                        American flags lining Main Street and the Four Corners in the Village, put in place by the Boy Scouts of Troop 167.

                        The 9/11 Flag of Heroes placed by the Town at the Pittsford Community Library (24 State St.), the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center (35 Lincoln Ave.) and the Pittsford Veteran’s Monument in Carpenter Park (22 N. Main St.). The Flag of Heroes bears the names of all who were killed in the attacks.

                        A large American flag at Thornell Farm Park placed by the Town to honor Pittsford Mendon High School graduate Todd Pelino, who lost his life in the World Trade Center.

                        The flag tributes will remain up through the weekend.

                        In memory of and honor of those lives lost, those who rushed into the face of danger to help, and all of those lives that were forever changed on September 11, 2001, the Town encourages members of the public to leave a light on this evening.
