Our annual Memorial Day parade and Remembrance Ceremony will bring the community together in remembrance and appreciation on Monday, May 29 at 10AM. The parade will follow its traditional route, starting at Sutherland High School, marching down Jefferson Road to Main Street and culminating at the Pittsford Cemetery for a moving ceremony (procession to enter on Washington Road). Retired U.S. Navy Commander Michael Giardino will serve as our Grand Marshal and will speak at the post-parade Remembrance Ceremony. Please note the date was listed incorrectly in the Spring issue of the Pittsford Messenger. More information and a complete program agenda can be found on our Memorial Day web page.
The Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will include patriotic performances by the Pittsford Fire Department Band, Harold McAulliffe, and members of the Pittsford Sutherland High School Band and Music Department Programs. Town Supervisor Bill Smith, Village Mayor Bob Corby, Pittsford Fire Department member and military veteran Todd Long, and Rayson Miller American Legion Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Jefrey Mason will place wreaths to honor and remember Pittsford military veterans. The Pittsford American Legion Honor Guard will provide a 21 Gun Salute to honor the fallen.
Following the ceremony, the Rayson-Miller American Legion Post 899 will host a reception at Post headquarters (21 N. Main Street, in the lower level of Village Hall). Don't miss this opportunity to show your gratitude for those who gave their lives in wartime service to our country and to thank all of our veterans. More information and a complete program agenda can be found on our Memorial Day web page.
